The Christmas of 2005 found me in the rather unusual position of being nearly 14,000 kilometers from home. In fact I was almost exactly as far south as you can travel on land from my hometown, Whitehorse, Yukon. A quick glance at that dusty old atlas or a few minutes searching through Google Earth will probably lead you to the conclusion that I was in fact in Ushuaia, Argentina, the southern most city in the world.
